The BSC624-12 V is a bidirectional DC / DC converter with galvanic isolation between the high-voltage and low-voltage circuit. It is particularly suitable for use in electric, hybrid and fuel cell vehicles. In buck mode, the 12 V on-board network is supplied with a current of up to 250 A from the high-voltage side. Thanks to its bidirectionality and its diverse configuration options, the BSC624-12 V can be used in a wide variety of areas. The bidirectional operation enables additional functions, for example, in fuel cell applications, the HV side of the fuel cell circuit can be started up from the 12 V on-board network in boost mode. With the BSC624-12 V in step-up operation, it is even possible to emergency charge the traction battery using a jump start cable.

On the one hand, the device is based on a series-resonant transformer stage, through which the galvanic separation is implemented. On the other hand, the desired voltage can be set in the respective operating mode by means of two step-up / step-down converters that work in a toothed manner to reduce ripple. Due to the resonant topology of the transformer stage and the so-called auto-commutation of the step-up / step-down converter, not only losses are limited to a minimum, but excellent EMC properties are also achieved. During the development of the device, priority was given to a compact, vibration-proof and lightweight design in order to enable use in almost all applications and installation locations.
